Meet our Teachers

Jennifer Palmer graduated from George Mason University. After 20 years following her husband in the military, they settled back in Fredericksburg and joined Hartwood Presbyterian Church. Jennifer joined the staff of HPC Preschool in 2011 as a teacher and business manager. She has two boys, ages 17 and 14. Over the years she has devoted many volunteer hours to the Hartwood Community, particularly in the schools and at the church. Hartwood kids recognize Jennifer and her boys as the friendly faces who deliver yummy and creative snacks every year at Vacation Bible School! In addition to her early childhood education experience, Jennifer brings a strong business background to the preschool, which makes the school year flow more pleasantly for teachers and parents alike! In her free time she likes to read and run.

Amy Ratliff is making her return debut to HPC Preschool. She was instrumental in getting HPC Preschool off the ground and up and running in 2010. She is excited to be back!
Amy has a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from George Mason University, and holds a VA state teaching license in Grades PK-4. She was a 2nd grade teacher for 11 years in our neighborhood schools (Hartwood Elementary and Rocky Run) before going part-time, to devote more time to her growing family.
Amy started "Miss Amy's Preschool" in 2005, and then opened HPC Preschool in 2010.
Her passion is teaching-25 years!
Over her part-time teaching years, you could find Amy teaching Sunday School at HPC, or tutoring, or investing time doing homebound instruction for children in need in the SCPS system.
Amy is happily married, with two teenanage boys, ages 16 and 13. Passions other than teaching include family time, cooking and fostering kittens for SPCA and the Stafford Animal Shelter.
